What's in Store for 2017?

Let's pull out the crystal ball and see what's in store for 2017.
  • The Six by Six Challenge - I decided to accept Kaptain Kobold's Six by Six Challenge. I have selected the games (part 1 and part 2). I predict that I will:
    • Complete Four Against Darkness, DC Rivals, and 2 of the 3 miniature games
    • Fail to finish the last miniature game (it is unclear which one will fall by the wayside)
    • Will dither on deciding the sixth game then will go easy by choosing Fluxx.
  • Portable Dungeon Crawl - I recently experimented with a portable version of a dungeon crawl, using the 4AD engine. I predict that I will have a basic boxed set completed by the end of the year.
  • A New Army - some time during the year I'll catch a bug and decide to build a new army. It will be 3mm and most likely will be a fantasy army.
  • Board Game Purge (Not!) - We are going to run out of storage for our board games. I will suggest getting rid of some that we no longer play. My wife will resist and we will get some new shelves for them.

  1. "hen will go easy by choosing Fluxx."

I'm holding Love Letter in reserve, since I can probably knock off six games of that on 31st December 2017 :-D

    1. My reserve is Tiny Epic Galaxies that I could also get in half a dozen solo games done in about 90 minutes, and easy to take photos and create AARs. My standby was going to be Zombie Dice as I could get in 6 games with the children in less than an hour; but it would be harder to write a decent report on the 6 games :-(

I did a boardgame purge last year. Actually....in reality, I was dumped 20 games by a friend about 2 years ago and I sold 18 of them I knew I would never play, and added two more for sale of mine I knew I would never play. I have kept all my other games - there are some I want to play, and some I still *might* play, really, honest! :-)

  2. We love Love Letter too and thought about it as well. I did "decide" on a 6th game. Based on my wife's feedback, I chose Ticket to Ride. I may still switch to Fluxx at some point.

I never tried Tiny Epic Galaxies although I am interested in the game.

    1. I have only played Tiny Epic Galaxies solo but it is fun and fast. Not sure how it goes multiplayer - some reviewers think it is great, other not so much. It seems to generally come down to whether you play with a fairly competitive group of friends who furiously calculate best move options in their head (and then the game is not so great) or having fun over competitiveness (then it is great).
